View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Joseph Martin, 98, died on Thursday, August 23, 2007, in the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a period of failing health. Born in Taunton, the son of the late Manuel and Josephine (Soares), he was the husband of the late Elnora (Taylor) Martin and the late Maud (Pilling) Martin.
Mr. Martin was educated in the Taunton Public Schools and was a member of the U. S. Navy Seabee’s during WW II. He worked as a retired operating engineer for heavy equipment for Union Local #4 in Boston. He was former member of the Elks and a former Commodore of the Marshfield Yacht Club.
He was the father of Richard Martin and his wife Peg of Taunton, Eileen Carlstron and her husband Wilbur of Attleboro, and Marjorie Crowley of Springhill, FL. He was the brother of Helen Pacheco of Taunton and grandfather of seven, great grandfather of thirteen and great great-grandfather of two.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service in the CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton on Monday, August 27, 2007, at 10:00AM. A visiting hour will be held from 9:00 to 10:00AM prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 11:30AM.
