View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SOMERSET – Marie A. (Guay) Barnes, 89, of Longhill Avenue, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at the Autumn Glen Assisted Living Center of Dartmouth. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Thomas & Elise ( Fournier) Guay, she was the wife of the late Raymond Barnes.
A resident of Somerset since 1953, having come originally from Fall River, Mrs. Barnes worked as a clerk for the Boy Scouts of America for many years. During WWII she worked for the U. S. Navy in Newport.
A parishioner of St. Louis De France Church, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and was a member of the “Jolly Jems” Bowling Team.
She is survived by a son, Thomas Barnes of East Providence and his companion Patricia DeCristoforo; a brother, Raymond Guay of Kensington, Maryland; a sister, Patricia Turgeon of Groton, CT; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Theodore Guay, Fernand Guay, Normand Guay, Antoinette Bernier, Jeannette Bradshaw, Germaine Guay, and Rita Guay.
Funeral Information
A memorial Mass will be held Friday, September 19, 2008, at 10:00AM in St. Louis De France Church, 56 Buffington St., Swansea, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private.
