Frances Laronda Nunes-Cabral

FAIRHAVEN – Frances (Laronda) Nunes-Cabral, 95, formerly of Mattapoisett, died on Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Alden Court Nursing and Rehab Center in Fairhaven, where she had been a resident for the past four years. She was the wife of the late Everett Cabral and the late Joseph Nunes.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Adelina (Marques) Laronda, she lived most of her life in Mattapoisett. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Mattapoisett.

Mrs. Cabral served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and later worked as a winder at the Sippican Corp. in Marion. She was a member of the Florence Eastman American Legion Post #280 of Mattapoisett as well as the Women’s Auxiliary, the Mattapoisett Seniors Club, the Village Court Seniors Club and enjoyed knitting and crocheting blankets for nursing homes.

She is survived by a sister, Angelica Netinho of Fairhaven, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Annie Mello, Virginia Amaral, Mary, Arthur, Frank, Tobias and Manuel Laronda.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held on Monday, August 6, 2007, at 9:00AM from the FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Anthony’s Church in Mattapoisett. Interment follow the Mass in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Mattapoisett. Family and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Sunday from 6:00-8:00PM.
