View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Edward Arthur Ferreira came to his eternal rest Saturday, January 10, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born seventy-five years ago to the late Serafim and Mary (Berthao) Ferreira, he was educated in the Taunton Public Schools and was a communicant of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Taunton.
A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Era, he served in from 1953 to 1955 and was discharged as a Corporal, having received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was member of the VFW Post 611 in Taunton.
Mr. Ferreira was the husband of fifty-three years of Lorraine (McCarthy) Ferreira. He was the father of Catherine De Moura and her husband Craig, Denise Aguiar and her husband Gary, Lynn Levasseur and her husband Joseph, all of Taunton, Mary Ferreira and her fiancé Dennis Marchand of Danielson, CT, John Ferreira of Spring Hill, FL, Michael Ferreira and his wife Lisa of Assonet and Edward Ferreira, Jr., and his wife Sara of Taunton. He was the grandfather of fourteen and the great-grandfather of nine. Edward was the brother of Mae Ventura, Evelyn Mastromarino, Serafim, Joseph, George, Raymond and Robert Ferreira and the late Charles, Lewis, Alfred and James Ferreira.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Andrew the Apostle Church (Tremont Street Facility), Friday, January 16, 2009, at 10:00AM. Those attending are requested to come directly to the Church. Interment of his cremains will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours are omitted.
