Joyce H. (Plummer) Gaddy

Joyce H. (Plummer) Gaddy, 72, of Norton, passed on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Tufts Medical Center, in Boston, surrounded by her family, after becoming ill due to complications with Multiple Myeloma. She was the wife of 51 and a half years to Robert E. Gaddy, Jr.
Joyce was born in Taunton, MA, the daughter of the late Maria Christina (Dansereau) Plummer, a homemaker and LPN at Paul A. Dever and Wilfred Joseph Prunier Plummer, a fireman/laborer at the Taunton Post Office, WWI veteran, Cowboy in Montana and a recipient of the Silver Star, Croix de Guerre and Purple Heart. Joyce was the sister of the late Leo Plummer, of Taunton, Dora (Plummer) Dutra, of Taunton, and Jean Pimento of Taunton.
Joyce was a graduate of Taunton High School class of 1962. She started working at the Bristol Country Trust Company as a Bank Teller. After the bank, Joyce became a bookkeeper at Marston Motors of Taunton. Joyce went on to become an Office Assistant at Marvel Oil, and then Office Manager at W.H. Riley Oil Company, both of Taunton. When Joyce retired, she worked part-time at the Bristol County Mosquito Control, in Taunton, as an Office Assistant. Joyce met her husband Bobby, a naval serviceman, while out dancing with her girlfriends in Newport, RI and they wed on October 23, 1965.
Joyce loved to dance, do ceramics, paint crafts, travel, eating out, animals, plants and the beach. Joyce fed every wild bird in Massachusetts or so it seemed and her house always felt like a nursery. Joyce had a fondness for giraffes and made many contributions to different charities.
Besides her husband, Robert E. Gaddy, Jr., Joyce leaves behind her daughter Suzanne E. Gaddy of Warwick, RI; her son Christopher D. Gaddy and his wife Nancy of Greenville, NC; two grandchildren, Alisha E. Sanzi and her husband Joseph of Norton and Evan M. Gaddy of Greenville, NC. Joyce also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017, at 9am, from the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am in the Annunciation of the Lord Church, 31 1st Street, Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private at the request of the family.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, May 18, 201,7 from 4-7pm, in the funeral home.
