Raymond L. Desley

RAYNHAM - Raymond L. Desley, 75, died suddenly at his home Wednesday morning, May 21, 2008. Born in Framingham, the son of the late Edward and Evelyn (Flood) Desley, he was the husband of Dawn (Ramsey) Desley of Raynham.

He was a retired Senior Master Chief in the U. S. Navy, having served during the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Siboney, the USS Franklin Roosvelt, the USS Coral Sea, the USS Gilmore, and the USS Enterprise, during his naval career of some twenty years. He retired as an EMCM E-9.

After retiring from the Navy, he was employed at the Quincy Naval Shipyard as a Maintenance Supervisor, Wheaton College in Norton as Asst. Supt. of Buildings and Grounds, and at the Somerville Lumber Yard in Bellingham as Foreman of Facilities. A resident of Raynham for thirty-eight years, coming originally from Newport, RI.

Mr. Desley was the father of David Desley of Raynham and Dean Desley and his wife Brenda of Hull, MA. He was the brother of the late Robert Desley, Edward Desley and Evelyn Prue and was the brother-in-law of Carolyn Desley of New York. He was the grandfather of David Desley and his wife Melanie, Brain Desley, Shelly Davis-Pedro and her husband Jacob Pedro, Kendra Brodie, Kerri Brodie-McCauley and her husband Anthony McCauley, Chyenne Laranjo and Miranda Laranjo. He was also the great-grandfather of Jacob, Conner and Abigail Pedro and Anthony, Kaleb and Jaxon McCauley; and the uncle of several.

Funeral Information

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held in THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, Tuesday, May 27, 2008, from 5:00 - 8:00PM. At 7:30PM, a funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home. A graveside service, to which all are invited to attend, will be held in Pleasant Street Cemetery, Raynham, Wednesday, May 28, at 11:00AM.
