NEW BEDFORD – John P. Wareing, 79, of New Bedford, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, in St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Lula C. (Miller) Wareing. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late William and the late Florence (Morrow) Wareing, he was a lifelong resident of the city. Mr. Wareing served in the U. S. Air Force from 1949-1952 and later worked as a tool grinder for thirty-seven years at Morse Cutting Tools in New Bedford until his retirement at age 60. Mr. Wareing was a member and past president of the Local 277 Union while at Morse. Mr. Wareing was a longtime member and past president of the Washington Club in New Bedford and a member of the Star in the East Masonic Lodge AF & AM. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching game shows on TV and was an avid Red Sox fan. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Susan Ledoux and her husband Leo of Dartmouth; two brothers, James Wareing of New Bedford and William Wareing of Bradenton, FL; a sister, Mary Rego of New Bedford; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mr. Wareing was the brother of the late Henry Wareing. Funeral InformationHis funeral service will be held at 10:00AM Monday, April 27, 2009, in THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by interment in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven.
