View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Amy J. Vena, 65, died Saturday, February 13, 2010, in Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. Born in Spokane, WA, the daughter of the Jane (Hoperich) Himmelspach, now of Canton, OH, and the late Raymond Himmelspach, Amy received her BS and MA from the Ohio State University and was also educated in Paris.
Ms. Vena was for over twenty years a professor in the Department of Education at Bridgewater State College. She was the Director of Education in American Samoa, through the University of Hawaii, earlier in her educational career. Her educational experiences were also through Montgomery County (Maryland) Schools and Framingham State College. Amy enjoyed playing the violin.
She is survived, in addition to her mother, by two daughters, Sarah Whitten of Taunton and Lauren Vena of East Dennis, MA; and a brother, Thomas Himmelspach, of North Canton, OH. Amy was the former wife of Dante Vena of New Bedford. She is also survived by many friends and colleagues.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Remembrance of Life Celebration for Amy in the Fellowship Hall of Pilgrim Congregational Church, 45 Broadway, Taunton, Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 11:00AM.
