November 15, 1920 - February 10, 2006

Americo "Mickey" or "Mac" Henriques, 85, of Fairhaven died Friday, February 10, 2006 at Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a period of declining health. He was the widower of the late Priscilla (LaCroix) Henriques and the husband of Janice I. (Johnsen) Henriques. They would have celebrated 33 years of marriage.

Born November 15, 1920 in New Bedford the son of the late Francisco and Olympia (Cabral) Henriques, he lived in New Bedford until moving to Fairhaven in 1953.
Mr. Henriques graduated from New Bedford High School with the Class of 1939. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a sales man for Hathaway Bakery in New Bedford and then later was an Insurance Agent for John Hancock Insurance for 25 years.

He was an accomplished golfer and former member of the Whaling City Golf Club and Reservation Country Club. He was a former Whaling City Fourball Champion, a member of the Fairhaven Varsity Club, and a member of the Andrew Dahill VFW Post of New Bedford. Mr. Henriques was and avid sports fan and loved watching all the local New England teams.

He loved his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grand children.

He is survived by his widow; four sons, Frank Henriques and his wife Carolyn of Boynton Beach, FL, Michael Henriques and his wife Susan of Port Charlotte, FL, William Henriques and his wife Arlene of New Bedford, and Scott Henriques and his wife Kristen of Dallastown, PA; a daughter, Ruth Ann Reul and her husband James, Jr. of Acushnet; two sisters, Gloria August of Orlando, FL and Emily Fernandes of Fairhaven; eleven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a God child, Ellen Luongo and a best friend, Tom Johnson.He was the brother of the late, Antonio Henriques and the great grandfather of the late, Reese Cathcart.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at 10:00 AM in the Trinity Luthern Church, Fairhaven. Interment will follow in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven. Arrangements are by the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven. Calling hours are Monday, February 13, 2006 from 5-8 PM in the FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main St., FAIRHAVEN.
