FAIRHAVEN – Ethel (Bernstein) Ventor, 98, of Fairhaven, died Thursday, August 26, 2010, at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Joseph Ventor. Born in Jamaica, Long Island, New York, the daughter of the late Louis and the late Anne (Waldfish) Bernstein, she lived most of her life in Fairhaven.

Mrs. Ventor was a graduate of the Corlears Business School in New York City and later worked in the garment industry, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, and was past treasurer and president of its Retirees Club. Ethel was also a member of the East Fairhaven Improvement Association, the St. Casmir’s Seniors, and A.A.R.P. She enjoyed playing BINGO, taking trips to the casinos and traveling through out the U. S. and Europe.

Survivors include four children, Manuel R. Ventor of Deering, NH, Arnold L. Ventor and his wife Gisela of NJ, Carole A. Machado of New Bedford, and Sheila M. Olsen and her husband Carl of Fairhaven; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; many nieces, nephews and good friends, especially her new friends, the ladies from hospice. Ethel was the sister of the late Rose Cutolo, Margaret Brier and George, Irving and Abraham Bernstein.
