James Isherwood

PLYMPTON– James Isherwood, 90, of Plympton, formerly of Somerset, died Monday, October 6, 2008, at the Newfield House in Plymouth. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Samuel and Mabel (Slater) Isherwood, he was the husband of the late Martha (Hudecek) Isherwood.

Mr. Isherwood grew up in Westport and then served his country during WWII with the United States Army. He was the owner of Slater Opticians for over fifty years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Pioneer Lodge AF & AM, Order of Eastern Star Auxiliary, and also a member of the former Episcopal Church of the Ascension, being very involved with their food pantry and thrift shop.

Funeral Information

A memorial service for Mr. Isherwood will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 11:00AM in the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 160 Rock St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Private burial will follow the service. Arrangements are with the HATHAWAY HOME for FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River.
