Hilaire J. Anctil

February 27, 1918 - October 17, 2005

Hilaire J. "Eli" Anctil, 87, of Borden St., Fall River, died Monday, October 17, 2005 at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River. He was the beloved husband of 64 years of Gertrude (Vautrin) Anctil. Born on February 27, 1918, in Fall River, he was a son of the late Ludger and Marie (Gauthier) Anctil. He was a lifelong resident of Fall River.

Mr. Anctil worked for the former Firestone Company in Fall River for over 30 years. Following his retirement from Firestone, he worked in the housekeeping department at St. Anne’s Hospital for 7 years, retiring from there in 1980. He was a longtime communicant of St. Anne’s Church. He was a member of the Firestone Retirees Club. Mr. Anctil enjoyed dancing and walking around the area. He especially enjoyed trips to Foxwoods with his wife.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Richard, of Somerset, and Denise Silvia, of Somerset, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Paul Anctil, and brother of the late Roger Anctil, and the late Dora Birkett, Doris Mercier, and Jeanne Anctil.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be Friday, October 21, 2005 at 9:00 am from the Hebert-Hathaway Funeral Home, 945 S. Main St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Anne’s Church, South Main St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours are Thursday, October 20, 2005 from 5-8 PM.
