FALL RIVER – William “Billy” J. Paul, 79, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2008, at his residence. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Henry J. Paul, Sr., and Mary F. (Davis), he was the husband of Patricia (Thomas) Paul, with whom he shared fifty-two years of marriage. A graduate with the Class of 1955 at BMC Durfee High School, Mr. Paul served his country during the Korean War with the United States Marine Corps and was recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a firefighter for the City of Fall River for thirty-five years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Firefighters Local 1314, the IAFF, the Corky Row Club, American Legion Post 126, and was a member of the Griffin Park softball champions 1946. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and especially with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife of fifty-two years, Mr. Paul leaves his daughter, Donna M. Honohan and her husband Robert of Fall River; his son, Jeffrey W. Paul and his wife Kimberly of Fall River; a sister, Dorothy Parker of Newport, RI; a brother, Henry “Herky” Paul, Jr., of Swansea; an aunt, Ethel L. Davis of Newport, RI; four grandchildren, Laura, Rebecca, and Blaine Honohan, and Ryan J. Paul; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral InformationHis funeral will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at 9:00AM from the HATHAWAY HOME for FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow with FULL MILITARY HONORS in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Calling hours will be held Monday, September 15, from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
