FALL RIVER – Beatrice (Plummer) Clarke, 96, formerly of the O’Brien Apartments on Ridge St. in Fall River, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at Somerset Ridge Nursing Center in Somerset. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Alfred & Mary Ann ( Holt) Plummer, she was the wife of the late Albert E. Clarke.

A lifelong Fall River resident, Mrs. Clarke worked as a sales clerk many years ago for the former R. A. McWhirr Company for more than ten years before she retired in 1973. She was a member of the former St. John’s Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Martha and Mary Society, a former Sunday School teacher, a former Senior Warden of St. John’s Church and past former member of the parish vestry.

She is survived by her four sons and their wives, Robert E. & Beverly Clarke of Fall River, David A. & Laura Clarke of New Bedford, Douglas G. & Joan Clark of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Gerald W. & Lucy Clarke of New Bedford. She also leaves ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John Plummer, Robert Plummer, Elizabeth Holland, Annie Greenwood, and Eva Holt.

Funeral Information

Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 8:30am in THE HATHAWAY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, MA, with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held Monday, March 8, from 4:00–7:00pm in the funeral home.
