J. Rita (Cote) Harrison

DARTMOUTH – J. Rita (Cote) Harrison, 87, of New Bedford, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Sunrise of Dartmouth after a long illness. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Peter and the late Dora (Mastine) Cote, she was the wife of the late John Harrison, Jr.

A lifelong resident of the city, a graduate of New Bedford High School and a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Mrs. Harrison was a clerk for twenty-five years in the Department of Public Welfare until her retirement in 1989.

She is survived by two sons, Scott P. Harrison and his wife Lynn of Fairhaven, and John Harrison, III, of New Bedford; four grandchildren, Christopher Harrison, John Harrison, IV, Alex Harrison and Courtney Harrison.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 9:00AM from THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours will be held Monday, April 27, from 5:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
