FALL RIVER – John F. Allen, Jr., of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the son of the late John F. Allen Sr. and the late Vivian (Fairhurst) Allen, he was the husband of Diane (Rousseau) Allen., with whom he shared fifty-one years of marriage.

A graduate with the Class of 1952 of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, Mr. Allen worked for his family’s business, Allen’s Apple Orchard in Fall River, then for the Frito Lay Company, and then for the Stop & Shop Company in Readville as a production manager for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the United Parish, North Christian Church, in Fall River and the Unitarian Church, and a very active soloist in churches for many years.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Allen leaves a sister, Joyce F. Gagne of Assonet, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dean Allen.

Funeral Information

His funeral service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008, at 10:00AM in the HATHAWAY HOME for FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River. Calling hours will be held Friday, October 24, from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
