Dorothy M. Garant

Dorothy M. (Knight) Garant, 85, of Swansea, died unexpectedly on July 7, 2006 in Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. She was the wife of Joseph A. Garant.

Born and brought up in Fall River, the daughter of the late William and the late Emma (Kelsall) Knight, she lived in Swansea for the past 60 years. She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Church in Somerset.

Mrs. Garant was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and during WWII worked at Firestone in Fall River. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Wayne A. Garant and his wife Gayle of West Warwick; a daughter, Janice Hoffman and her husband Lawrence of Playa Delcarmen, Mexico and Moultonbourough, NH; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Garant was the sister of the late Ruth Mullaney.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at 9:00 AM from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas More Church, Somerset. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours are Monday, July 10, 2006 from 5-8 PM.
