Austin A. Ambrose

FALL RIVER – Austin A. Ambrose, 84, of North Dartmouth, died Sunday, September 13, 2009, in St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Beatrice D. (Galleano) Ambrose, the love of his life. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Austin A. and the late Angilina (Costa) Ambrose, he lived in Dartmouth since 1968.

Mr. Ambrose attended the Kingdom Hall Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New Bedford and was a machinist at the Morse Twist Drill for many years. He loved playing the piano and instilled his love of music in his family.

He is survived by two sons, Gerald Ambrose of Bath, NH, and Mark Ambrose of Fall River; six daughters, Ann Medeiros of Dartmouth, Ida Brisson of New Bedford, Raphaela Demarias of Westport, Cindy Fairclough of Connecticut, and Rachel Hunt and Rebekah Pimental both of New Bedford; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. He also has many nieces and nephews and was the last of five children in his family.

In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated and a memorial service will be held Monday, September 21, 2009, at 6:00PM in THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
