FAIRHAVEN – Eric J. Jackson, 49, of Fairhaven, died unexpectedly Monday, March 30, 2009, at home. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of Colin and Margaret “Peggy” (Freitas) Jackson of Fairhaven, and a life long resident of the town.

Mr. Jackson was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fairhaven. He was the manager of Jackson’s Variety Store on Sconticut Neck in Fairhaven. He was a history buff and enjoyed fishing and playing chess.

He is survived by his parents; a daughter, Jillian Jackson of Fairhaven; a son, Jacob C. Jackson of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Colleen Jackson and her companion Mark Andrews of New Bedford and Tina Jackson-Lawrence and her husband Phil of New Bedford; a brother, Randy Jackson of Fairhaven; his godfather, Fred Freitas of Salem, NH; his godmother, Joan Perry of New Bedford; John and Pauline Jackson, his uncle and aunt of Havre de Grace, MD; a niece, Jamie Jackson and a nephew, Jeremy Jackson, both of Fairhaven; and several cousins.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be held Friday, April 3, 2009, at 9:30AM from THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Fairhaven. Cremation will follow. Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 2, from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
