"Dot" (Doberck) Beckman, 85, of Fairhaven, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, peacefully at home after a long illness, surrounded by her family, to her new home in heaven. She was the wife of the late Elmer P. “Shorty” Beckman. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Carl V. and the late Annie (Dumas) Doberck.
Dorothy enjoyed working in her yard, driving in the country and enjoying the scenery. She loved going to Fort Phoenix and watching the boats and going out to eat in her favorite restaurants. She also enjoyed watching the Food Network and listening to the music of the Big Joe Polka Show on BFD.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Perry and her husband Milton of Fairhaven and Karen Veary and her husband William of New Bedford; grandchildren, Jennifer A. Travis, David Bowden, Jaclyn Goodwin and Eric Beckman; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Beckman was the mother of the late Carl Beckman and the grandmother of the late Christopher and Carl Beckman, Jr.
