NEW BEDFORD – Helen (Moniz) Parker, 76, of New Bedford, formerly of Fairhaven, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008, in St. Luke’s Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Mariano and the late Jovita (Couto) Moniz, she was the beloved wife of Walter “Buddy” Parker.

A resident of Fairhaven most of her life, she was a homemaker, wife, and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her lifelong work was her family. She enjoyed family gatherings, spending time with her husband, Buddy, playing cards, and watching TV. Her biggest joy was being with her family. Her strength was an inspiration to her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Parker leaves four sons, Roger Parker and his wife Kathy of Fairhaven, Wayne A. Parker, Sr., and his wife Donna of Wareham, Thomas Parker and his wife Lynda of Rochester, and Walter E. Parker, Jr., and his wife Karen of Acushnet; three sisters, Nancy Moniz and Janet Raulet, both of Fairhaven, and Shirley Mustafa of New Bedford; a brother, Mariano “Jr.” Moniz of Santa Clara, CA; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Parker was the great-grandmother of the late Nathan Parker and the sister of the late Charles Moniz.

Funeral Information

Her funeral service will be Friday, February 1, 2008, at 10:00AM at THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, followed by interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Marion.
