View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Manuel M. Carvalho, 81, Ret. FRFF of Howland Road in Assonet formerly of State Road in Westport, MA passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the Kindred Hospital Northeast in Stoughton, MA he was the husband of fifty nine years to Evelyn B. (Lavallee) Carvalho. Born in Fall River, MA on September 5, 1925 the son of the late Manuel and Marie (Carvalho) Carvalho.
He served his country during WWII with the United States Army, after serving his country he worked for the former Davis Green Printing Works Company in Fall River for several years, he then worked as a firefighter for the City of Fall River for many years before retiring in 1987. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church in Westport, and a member of the IAFF local 1314, he enjoyed playing and watching tennis, and was a past Ping Pong champion, and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Survivors beside his wife of fifty nine years are two sons Lawrence P. Carvalho of Somerset, MA Keith S. Carvalho of Nashua, NH three sisters Florizina O'Brien of Somerset, MA Olivia Fletcher of Fall River, MA Delores Fletcher of Florida a brother Daniel Carvalho of North Carolina a grandchild Lawrence P. Carvalho Jr. and two great granddaughters Molly and Sophie. He was the brother of the late Gloria Imbriglio, Laurina Hayes, Antone, Herman, Adelino Carvalho.
Funeral Information
His funeral will be held on Monday at 8:45am from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10am in Our Lady of Grace Church 569 Sanford Rd., Westport. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow with Military Honors in Saint Patrick Cemetery Fall River.
