- Mary E. (Keaveny) Garganta, 73, of Jean Avenue, Somerset, died Friday, August 11, 2006. She was the former wife of the late Leonel V. Garganta. She was born in Brighton, MA, a daughter of the late Thomas J. & Catherine (Mullin) Keaveny.

Mary was a 1951 graduate of St. Columbkille High School and lived in Somerset for over 45 years, coming from Fall River and Boston.

Mary was a Funeral Coordinator for the Hathaway Family Funeral Homes for the last 6 years. She was a receptionist for The Spectator for over 12 years, and also for Bristol Elder Services for over 15 years, before retiring in 1997.

She was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Swansea, where she was a member of the parish Financial Committee, she was also PTO Secretary for the Wilbur School in Somerset for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Kevin J. Garganta of Somerset and John T. Garganta of Bradenton, FL, and a daughter, Colleen A. Calicchia of Celebration, FL. She is also survived by a brother, Thomas J. Keaveney of Amherst, NH; a sister, Barbara A. Twomey of South Grafton, MA; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30am from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardner's Neck Road in Swansea. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery , Somerset. . Calling hours: Tuesday from 4 - 8 pm.
