View Tribute and Sign Guestbook WEST WAREHAM – Maria E. (Gomes) Raposo, 72, of West Wareham, died at home Saturday, March 21, 2009. Born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, the daughter of the late Antonio DaCosta Gomes and the late Maria Teresa daLuz, she came to New Bedford in 1979 and lived in Dartmouth before moving to West Wareham fifteen years ago. She loved getting her family together and feeding them.
She is survived by two daughters, Ilda Viveiros, with whom she lived with in West Wareham, and Maria Viveiros, also of West Wareham; four sons, Leonardo, Antonio and Rui Viveiros, all of New Bedford, and Anibal Viveiros of Taunton, and the late Luis and Artur Viveiros; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters in Portugal and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 8:00AM from THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in St. John the Baptist Church, County St., New Bedford. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours will be held Monday, March 23, from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
