FALL RIVER, MA – Andrew C. Madonna, 79, of Fall River, passed away Friday, January 9, 2009, at his residence. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Nicholas and Helen (Anderson) Madonna, he was the husband of Marguerite L. (LeComte) Madonna, to whom he was married fifty-nine years. Serving his country during the Korean War with the United States Army, Mr. Madonna was a Bronze Star recipient. After the war he worked for Massachusetts Highway Department for thirty-five years as a highway repair foreman, retiring in 1990. Mr. Madonna was a communicant of Saint Anne’s Church in Fall River. He was a former member of the Knight of Columbus, American Legion Post 314, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Fall River. Andrew enjoyed salt water fishing, the outdoors and spending time with his dogs. In addition to his wife, Mr. Madonna leaves three daughters, Catherine A. Augustine and her husband Robert of Fall River, MA, Jo-Ann M. Preble and her husband Kenneth of Somerset, and Diane L. Wrinn and her husband Eugene of Guilford, VT; two sons, David B. Madonna and his wife Carissa of Berlin, Connecticut, and Eric D. Madonna of Fall River, MA; two sisters, Helen Machado of East Providence, RI, and Patricia Michelson of Pawtucket, RI; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Shirley Oliveira and Nicholas Madonna. Funeral InformationHis funeral will be held Monday, January 12, 2009, at 9:00AM from the HATHAWAY HOME for FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Saint Anne’s Church, South Main St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial with MILITARY HONORS will follow the Mass in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours with video photo album will be held Sunday, January 11, from 2:00-5:00PM.
