( Czapiga) Knowe, 91, of Somerset Street in East Longmeadow, MA, formerly of Slade Street, Fall River, died on Monday, September 3, 2007, at the Red Stone Nursing Center in East Longmeadow. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Vincent & Helen (Kocor) Czapiga, she was the wife of the late Edward F Knowe.
A lifelong resident of Fall River, prior to relocating to East Longmeadow six years ago, Mrs. Knowe worked as a presser for many years at various local textile mills. She was a parishioner of the former St. William Church (now Holy Trinity Church) in Fall River. She enjoyed dancing.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Knowe of East Longmeadow; a brother, and sister-in-law, Peter & Ruth Czapiga of Fall River; a sister and late brother-in-law, Genevieve and the late Henry Kozak of Fall River. She also leaves two grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly Ann & Mark Carrington and Douglas M. & Michelle Knowe; and two great-grandchildren, Alison Mae Carrington and Katie Caroline Knowe; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Walter Czapiga, Joseph Czapiga and his wife the late Eva, Julia Czapiga, and also the late Mary “Mae” Skrzypiec and her husband the late Walter.
