View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Helen M. (Purchase) Tate, 94 , formerly of Highview Avenue, Somerset, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at Somerset Ridge Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Henry “ Harry” Tate. She was born February 20, 1911 in Manchester New Hampshire a daughter of the late Mary ( Hanson) Purchase.
She was a waitress at the former Sunderland's Restaurant for many years. She lived in Somerset since 1971 coming from Tiverton and Fall River. She had attended University of Rhode Island (URI ) for 2 years. She was a founding member of the Somerset Garden Club, member of the Swansea Quilt Club, and was volunteer at Charlton Memorial Hospital for many years, volunteer at thr Red Cross Blood Bank. She was also an accomplished seamstress and clothing designer. She had also worked at the former Firestone company for 5 years in the production department.
She is survived by a daughter, June Griffin of Somerset, a grandson, and a great grand daughter. She was the sister of the late Edward Purchase, John Purchase, Albert Purchase.

Funeral services are private. Arrangements by the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA.
