Edmund Banville, 80 of 61 Pershing Avenue, Swansea died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Laura C. (Ferreira) Banville. Born September 12, 1925 he was the son of the late Lucien and Aura (Mason) Banville.
Mr. Banville had been the owner-operator of L&E Real Estate for many years. He was well known for his letters to the editor, He was a Political Advocate for the Republican Party. He received his Bachelors in Bussiness Administration from Boston University. Mr. Banville was Past Commander for Swansea Post # 303 American Legion. A World War II Navy Veteran he had served aboard the Fleet Hospital 115 on Quam. Also a BMC Durfee High School Graduate.
He leaves four sons, Kenneth L. Banville of Swansea, MA; Joseph M. Banville of Swansea, MA; Lucien G. Banville of Fall River, MA; Christopher James Banville of Swansea, MA; one daughter; Cynthia Mather of Swansea, MA; one sister, Jeanne Sullivan of Assonet, MA; eight grandchildren and 15 great grand children. Mr. Banville was the father of the late Edmund John Banville and brother of the late Eddie Banville.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 9:00 am in Saint Louis deFrance Church 56 Buffinton Street, Swansea. Burial will be private. Following Services the family would like to extend an invitation to all to gather at the American Legion Post #303 Swansea, Ocean Grove Avenue for refreshments and fellowship.
