View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SOMERSET – Amelia (Francis) Jaworski, 93, formerly of MacArthur Avenue, Somerset, died Saturday, February 24, 2007, at the Somerset Ridge Nursing Home. Born in Dighton on June 21, 1913, a daughter of the late Jesse and Mary Gloria (Pontes) Francis, she was the wife of the late Carl A. Jaworski. She attended the Westport Public Schools and graduated from the Herrick’s Institute in Fall River. She was a Somerset resident since 1951, having moved from Fall River .
Mrs. Jaworski was employed in various positions at the former American Thread Company and Pepper Manufacturing. She also worked at the Newport Torpedo Station during World War II as a secretary, performing classified duties. Later she was employed by the US Veteran’s Administration in Providence as a medical secretary. Subsequently she became Executive Secretary to the Administrator of the Veterans Hospital in Brockton. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas More Church in Somerset.
Mrs. Jaworski is survived by a brother, Dr. James F. Francis of New Bedford; three sisters, Lena Francis of New Bedford, Beatrice Francis of Wareham, and Alice Parman of Boynton Beach, Florida; two nieces, Lisa M. Wethington of Fairhaven, and Cynthia Poorman of Zachary, Louisiana; three nephews, Peter J. Francis of Taunton, Christopher J. Francis of New Bedford, and Charles Francis of Brewster, MA. She was the sister of the late Charles Francis, Anne Bogan, and Mary Ridley.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at 9:00AM from the HATHAWAY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., FALL RIVER, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00AM in Holy Name Church, Hanover St., Fall River. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be observed in the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00–9:30AM.
