View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Dorothy L. (Mountain) Jansen, 91, of Fairhaven died Thursday, March 2, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford after a brief illness. She was the wife of 61 years of Gabriel Jansen.
Born in British Columbia, Canada, the daughter of the late John and the late Annie (Taylor) Mountain, she graduated as a nurse from Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, B.C. While working in South Africa during WWII she met and married her husband who was a Norwegian Sailor. The Jansen's lived for a time in Norway with their two children before emigrating to the U.S. where Dorothy resumed her nursing career. They lived in New Jersey before settling in Fairhaven in the 1970's.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Janet Pilot of Brick, NJ; a son, John Jansen of Austin, TX; two grandchildren, Tina Pilot and Lisa Dunfee both of Brick, NJ and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Bessie Burton and Marion Baird both of Canada and a brother, Joe Mountain of Canada.
