Yvonne Marie Louise (Lapalme) Martel

NEW BEDFORD – Yvonne Marie Louise (Lapalme) Martel, 92, of Acushnet, died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 22, 2008, after a period of declining health, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Roger L. Martel. Born in Acushnet, the daughter of the late Wilfred and the late Eliza (Lacroix) Lapalme, she was a lifelong resident of the town and communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.

Mrs. Martel was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family and her home.

She is survived by three daughters, Joan Martel of Acushnet, Diane Bordeleau and her husband Robert of Falmouth, and Jacqueline Comperchio and her husband James of Auburndale, FL; two grandchildren, Michael Comperchio and his wife Amanda and Alicia Comperchio; a great-grandson, Jackson Comperchio; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Martel was the sister of the late George and Oscar Lapalme and Irene Parent.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Monday, October 27, 2008, at 8:00AM from the FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in St. Francis Xavier Church on Main St., Acushnet. Cremation will follow. Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 26, from 3:00-6:00PM in the funeral home.
