Edna (Reid) Gell

SOMERSET, MA – Edna (Reid) Gell, 91, of Somerset, MA, and Vero Beach, FL, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren, RI. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Booth) Reid, she was the wife of the late Arthur Gell and Norman Grime.

Mrs. Gell, a 1935 graduate of BMC Durfee High School, devoted her life to raising her family. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour in Somerset and was active at one time on the church’s Vestry and was a long time member of the Adult Choir. Edna was also a member of Christ Church in Swansea.

While wintering in Vero Beach, she was involved with the garden club and the senior choral group. Edna was also involved locally with the Fall River Women’s Club and the Somerset PM Club. Mrs. Gell enjoyed music and loved to play the piano.

She is survived by two daughters, Carole Murtagh and Sally A. Winslow, both of Rye, NH; two sons, Robert A. Gell of Somerset and William R. Gell of Little Compton, RI; two brothers, Thomas Reid, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Edwin Reid of Fall River; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Helene Mertzweiller and Robert Reid.

Funeral Information

Private services for Mrs. Gell will be held at the convenience of the family.
