Gerard Reid Joseph Kenton, 78, of West Street, Attleboro, died Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Joan (Blottman) Kenton, they had celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 2, 2006. Mr. Kenton was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 8, 1927, the son of the late Frank & Katherine (Reid) Kenton.

He was a CPA for the Ward-Fischer Company in Providence for many years. He was also an Accountant for the Stern-Leach Co. in Attleboro for 45 years , before retiring 10 years ago. He had been a Chief Financial Officer for the Edward & Cook Co. for many years. Mr. Kenton lived in Attleboro since 1938 coming from Brooklyn. He was class Valedictorian for Attleboro High School, Class of 1945. He then graduated from College of the Holy Cross in 1950. He was also an Army Veteran serving as Private First Class, during WWII. Mr. Kenton was a parishioner of St John the Evangelist Church. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 404, a life member of the Angle Tree Stone Rod & Gun Club, where he was a Treasurer for over 20 years. Member of the Bear Croft Swim & Tennis Club, and a member of the VFW. He enjoyed playing chess, and doing crossword puzzles.

Besides his wife he is survived by a son Stephen Kenton of New York City, 2 daughters, Kathryn & her husband David Hohl of Atherton California, Margaret “ Peggy” Kenton of Philadelphia PA, 3 grandchildren Joshua Hohl, , Benjamin Hohl, Anelise Hohl. He was the uncle of Theresa O’Brien of Colorado, Kristin Weiss of Vermont, Jeffrey Kenton of Wisconsin. He was the brother of the late Donald Kenton, Sr. Kathleen Kenton.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be held Thursday, July 27, 2006 at 10:00am from the Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St Attleboro, with a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 155 North Main St Attleboro, burial with Military Honors will follow in St John Cemetery, West St Attleboro. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Wednesday, July 26, 2006 from 4 –7 pm.
