REHOBOTH – William C. Macomber, 75, of Rehoboth, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence after an unexpected accident at home. Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Ethel (Vaughn) Macomber, he was the beloved husband of Beatrice (Ferry) Macomber, to whom he was married for more than fifty-four years.

Mr. Macomber was a delivery driver, supervisor, and customer service representative for the United Parcel Service before retiring in 1988. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, and the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.

A resident of Rehoboth for over six years, he retired to this community, having relocated from Somerset, where he made his home with his beloved wife and family for more than thirty-one years, prior to residing in Fall River. An avid traveler, he enjoyed wintering in Florida, doing gardening and landscaping, and working on home improvement projects, as well as making use of computers, and following the Boston Red Sox. He was a parishioner of St Francis of Assisi Church.

A loving husband and caring father and grandfather, he will be sadly missed by his wife and daughters, Paula & husband Steve Money of Rehoboth, and Lisa & husband Kevin Braz of Rehoboth. He was the grandfather of Erin , Kelsey Money, Jamison, Lindsay, Alexis Braz, all of Rehoboth. He was the devoted brother of Marie Rego of Fall River and the brother of the late Florence Poissant and Margaret Charrette.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 10:00AM from THE HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, with burial to follow, with Military Honors, in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held Friday, May 9, from 3:00–7:00PM in the funeral home.
