View Tribute and Sign Guestbook NEW BEDFORD – Joseph A. Nicodemisen, 82, of Fairhaven, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Stensjo) Nicodemisen. Born in Fairhaven, the son of the late Frederick and the late Dina (Olsen) Nicodemisen, he lived in Brooklyn, NY, in his youth and later returned to Fairhaven where he lived most of his life.
Mr. Nicodemisen served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and later worked as a commercial fisherman and was the former owner of the FV Dartmouth and prior to that the Elizabeth N. He was a member of the Star in the East Masonic Lodge AF & AM and the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Nicodemisen leaves a son, Robert F. Nicodemisen and his wife Robin of Acushnet; a daughter, Hollis J. Bowers, and her husband Steven of Fairhaven; and thirteen grandchildren.
Funeral Information
His funeral will be held Monday, February 15, 2010, at 11:00AM in THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main St., Fairhaven. Interment will follow in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven. Calling hours will be from 9:00AM until the time of the service.
