Victoria (Santos) Oliveira

FAIRHAVEN – Victoria (Santos) Oliveira, 87, formerly of New Bedford, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in Our Lady’s Haven in Fairhaven, where she had been a resident since 2005. She was the wife of the late John C. Oliveira.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Vincent dos Santos and the late Guilhermina (Reis) Santos, she lived most of her life in Dartmouth where she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. Mrs. Oliveira was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Ladies Guild. She moved to New Bedford in 1989 and lived there before entering the Haven.

Mrs. Oliveira was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered as a very caring and helping person.

She is survived by a daughter, June M. Sylvia and her husband James of Mattapoisett; a son, John A. Oliveira and his wife Amy of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Todd J. Sylvia, Nathan J. Sylvia and his wfe Tracy, Victoria R. Oliveira, Joao C. Oliveira and Maria I. Oliveira; five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Morgan, Ryleigh, Bailey and Nicholas; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Monday, April 14, 2008, at 9:00AM from the DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth. Interment will be in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2:00-5:00PM in the funeral home.
