NEW BEDFORD – Anita R. (Pontes) Reul, 68, of Orchard St., New Bedford, died on Sunday, December 30, 2007, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Bedford, a daughter of Peter & Rosemary (Trezeiack) Pontes, she was the wife of George Reul, with whom she shared more than forty-seven years of happy, married life. A lifetime resident of New Bedford, and a homemaker, Mrs. Reul was a parishioner of St. Lawrence’s Church. She was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, bowling, and especially helping others. Above all she the happiest spending time with her large family and many wonderful friends. She loved life and took great joy in making everyone around her happy. The family would like to thank all of those at the Oncology Center for all the care they provided for Anita until her passing. Besides her husband, she is survived by her parents, Peter Pontes of New Bedford and her mother Rosemary (Trezeiack) Pontes of Jersey City, New Jersey. She also leaves two sons, Kevin Reul and his fiancé Marjorie Rodericks of New Bedford and Stephen Reul and former daughter-in-law Dawn M. Reul of New Bedford; three daughters, Michelle May of New Bedford, Felicity A. Forsythe and her husband Jude of New Bedford, Nicole M. Couto and her husband Tony F. of New Bedford; and four sisters residing in New Jersey, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of twelve and the great-grandmother of one. Funeral InformationHer funeral will be held on Friday, January 4, 2008, at 8:00AM from THE DONAGHY–HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in St. Lawrence’s Church, County & North Streets, in New Bedford; burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
