View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SWANSEA – Katherine A. (Martin) O'Connell, 86, of Swansea, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008, at her residence. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Mary (Downey) Martin, she was the wife of the late Edward D. O’Connell.
A graduate of BMC Durfee High School’s Class of 1938, Mrs. O’Connell went on to attend the former Thibodeau’s and Campbell’s business schools. She worked as an inventory clerk for the United States Army and Navy during WWII. Mrs. O’Connell then worked for the former New England Telephone Company as head cashier for twenty years before retiring in 1983. She was a communicant of Saint Louis de France Church in Swansea, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneer’s, the Emerald Club with the Fall River Lodge of Elks, and enjoyed reading.
Mrs. O’Connell leaves a sister, Jeanne Paulhus of Swansea; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary E. Carey.
Funeral Information
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at 10 AM in Saint Louis de France Church, 56 Buffinton St., Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private.
