Emily P. (Perry) Vaz

DIGHTON – Emily P. (Perry) Vaz, 80, of Dighton, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Dighton. Born in East Providence, RI, a daughter of the late Manuel & Sylvia (Raposa) Perry, she was the wife of the late Arthur L. Vaz, Sr.

Most of her life Mrs. Vaz was a homemaker, having worked for a short time at the Princess House in North Dighton. She was a Dighton resident for over sixty years, coming from East Providence. A parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Dighton, and a member of the Women’s Guild at the church, Mrs. Vaz enjoyed traveling with the Senior Citizens, was a tremendous cook, who enjoyed cooking for her family, and spending time with them.

She is survived by a son, Arthur L. Vaz, Jr., of Dighton; a daughter, Patricia Cronin of Dighton; two grandchildren, Shawn Patrick Cronin and Erin Elizabeth Cronin, both of Dighton; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth Cronin; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel “Red” Perry, Jr., John Perry, Edward Perry, Mary Cunha, Evangelina “Angie” Ribeiro, Deolinda “Del” Rossi, and Edwina “Irene” Cipolla.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 8:30AM from THE HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Peter’s Church, Main St., Dighton. Burial will follow the funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 12, from 5:00–8:00PM.
