Irene (Daignault) Martin

FAIRHAVEN – Irene (Daignault) Martin, 88, of Fairhaven, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at the Royal in Fairhaven after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Manuel Martin. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Ellen (Noon) Daignault, she settled in Fairhaven in 1947.

Mrs. Martin worked in the cafeteria of the Fairhaven School system for ten years until retiring at age 67. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven, where she was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Golden Ager’s Club. She also enjoyed going to the Fairhaven Senior Center.

She is survived by two daughters, Doreen Willner and her husband James of Fircrest, WA, and Mary Ellen Martin of Fairhaven; two sons, Kenneth and Michael Martin; a sister, Theresa Miller of Fairhaven; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Martin was the sister of the late Charles and William Daignault and Cecelia Tardif.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be Friday, July 31, 2009, at 9:00AM from THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM in St. Mary’s Church, 41 Harding Road, Fairhaven. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours are omitted.
