View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SOMERSET, MA – Gerald J. Ferreira, 63, of Somerset, died Monday, January 25, 2010, at his residence. Born in Fall River, the son of the Agnes (Mello) Ferreira of Fall River and the late Mariano “Bob” Ferreira, he was the husband of Geraldine (Souza) Ferreira, with whom he shared a forty year marriage.
A 1964 graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Mr. Ferreira served his country during the Viet Nam War with the United States Navy. Following his military service, he worked as an outside salesman for the Robinson Supply Company for over forty years. Gerald was a communicant of Saint Thomas More Church in Somerset. He was a dog lover and car enthusiast who enjoyed maintaining and cleaning his sports cars. Gerry also enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends and was always available to help out when needed. He also enjoyed taking trips to the casino.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lynn Ferreira of Fall River; his son, Eric Ferreira and his wife Jacqueline of Charlotte, NC; and a goddaughter, Robin Breault of Westport, MA.
Funeral Information
His funeral service will be held Friday, January 29, 2010, at 9:00am from the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Saint Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset, with burial to follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours with video photo album will be Thursday, January 28, from 4:00-7:00pm in the funeral home.
