Alfred L. Martin, 81 years old, died on Friday, November 10, 2006 in the Goddard Rehabilitation Hospital, Stoughton after a period of failing health. Born in Taunton son of the late John and Ambrosina (Souza) Martin.

Educated in Taunton Schools, he was a retired silversmith for Taunton Silversmith Company for many years. He was a communicant of St Joseph's Church, Taunton. He formerly worked at Standard Coil Co in Taunton. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, politics, playing cards and he cherished his Sunday dinners with all his family present. He was WW II veteran of the US Army in Rhineland and Central Europe. He served with the 101 Airborne and was proud of being a parachutist. He received the Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Medal and Army of Occupation Medal of Germany.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” ( Foley) Martin and his children Patricia Martin of Raynham, Kathleen Morrison and her husband of Taunton, Susan Martin of Mansfield, Edward Martin of Taunton, and Paul Martin and his wife Dulce of Houston,TX; his sisters, Hilda Rose and Ambrosina Martin both of Taunton; his grandchildren Neil Morrison and his wife Paula, Eric Morrison, Kyle Morrison all of Taunton and Brady Martin of Houston, TX He was also the brother of the late Mary Severino, Antone, John and Manuel Martin.

Funeral Information

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held from the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South) Taunton on Tuesday at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Joseph's Church, Taunton at 10AM. Visiting hours on Monday from 4-8PM. Interment St Francis Cemetery.
