Edmund Barker, 85, of Fairhaven died Friday, May 5, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital. He was the widower of Deanna K. (Baveas) Barker.
Born February 20, 1921 in New Bedford the son of the late Robert and Esther (Stables) Barker, he was a life long resident of the New Bedford and Fairhaven area.
Mr. Barker served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was recognized and awarded for being the youngest Chief Petty Officer. He worked as a building engineer for several area locations including the New Bedford Institution for Savings.
He is survived by a son, Edmund Barker, Jr. of Washington, DC; two daughters, Susan Barker of Fairhaven and Ann Monteiro of New Bedford; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ester Naile.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his memorial calling hours Friday, May 12, 2006 from 5-8 PM in the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford. Interment will be private.
