Manuel Alphonse Jr, 78, of Old Myricks Street, Berkley, died Monday, December 5, 2005 at Tufts New England Medical Center, Boston. He was the husband of the late Louise F (Peters) Alphonse. Born November 11, 1927 in New Bedford MA a son of the late Manuel Sardinha Alphonse & Mary ( Maiden Name Unknown) Sardinha.

He was a bus driver for the Bloom Bus Company for over 10 years, before retiring in 1989. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He has been a Berkley resident for over 20 years coming from New Bedford and Assonet, He was a member of the Myricks United Methodist church, He enjoyed doing Carpentry and woodworking, and was a skilled craftsman, he also liked airplanes and was an avid card player.

He is survived by a son Michael Alphonse of Wakefield Ma, 5 daughters Janice Mitton of Berklet, Joanne Haskins of Berkley, Judith Reposa of Taunton, June Kozlovsky of North Dartmouth, Kathleen Sullivan of Newport RI, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, He was the brother of the late Agnes Gouveia, Beatrice Levesque and Emily Rapoza.

Funeral Information

His funeral service will be held Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 11:00am in the Myricks United Methodist church, Route 79, Berkley. Burial will follow in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton. Arrangements by the Crapo-Hathaway Home for Funerals, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton, MA. Calling hours are Thursday, December 8, 2005 from 10:30am - 11:00am in the church.
