View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FALL RIVER – Loretta V. (Lynch) Babcock, 97, of Fall River, formerly of Swansea, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at the Southpointe Nursing Care Center in Fall River. Born in Swansea, MA, the daughter of the late Daniel D. and Elizabeth A. (Shea) Lynch, she was the wife of the late John M. Babcock.
Mrs. Babcock was part of the first graduating class of Joseph Case High School in 1930. She was a former communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, a member and past regent of the Saint Patrick Circle, Daughters of Isabella #335 in Somerset, the Holy Name Auxiliary, past president of district 6 VFW, past county president of VFW, past color bearer VFW, past state community service chairwoman VFW, and also a member of the VFW Post 8500 Somerset, and president of Swansea Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Babcock leaves a niece, Donna Desrosiers and her husband Steven of Somerset, MA; and several other nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Mullaney, Ann Lawton, Daniel, Dennis, Cornelius and Raymond Lynch and the aunt of the late Brian Lynch. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Julienne Lynch, of Swansea, MA.
Funeral Information
Her funeral service will be held Monday, July 27, 2009, at 8:00AM from THE HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in Saint Louis de France Church, 56 Buffinton St., Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
