William E. Wrightington Jr. 81 0f 48 Gagnon Street, Fall River died Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Lauretta (Carrier) Wrightington. Born October 14, 1924 he was the son of the late William E. Sr. and Bertha (Lemieux) Wrightington.
Mr. Wrightington had been a Policemen for the City of Fall River for thirty-two years retiring in 1982, he was a member of the Fall River Police Relief Association, Massachusetts Police Relief Association and the retired Fall River Municipal Employee's Association.
Mr. Wrightington was on the Traffic Board for seven years with Mayor Edward Lamberts Administration.
In 1971 Mr. Wrightington had been honored by the Fall River Chamber of Commerce for his work with the youth of Fall River.
A World War II United States Marine Corp Veteran he had served aboard the Pacific Asiatic Conflict as a Chemical Warfare Specialist.
Mr. Wrightington enjoyed all sports, his favorite was Baseball, he had been the Commissioner of the Fall River Jr. Twilight Baseball League.
He leaves his wife of fifty-nine years Lauretta (Carrier) Wrightington, two sons, William E. Wrightington III of Fall River, MA; Michael G. Wrightington of Fall River, MA; one daughter Carol Janet Chouinard of Yarmouthport, MA; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grand children, several nieces and nephews. A lifelong friend, George “Sneaker” McDonald of Fall River, MA; Mr. Wrightington was the brother of the late George Wrightington, Louise Maynard, Pauline Maynard and Corinne Simard
His funeral will be held Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 8:00 am from the HATHAWAY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., FALL RIVER to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in Notre Dame deLourdes Church, 529 Eastern Avenue, Fall River. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Stafford Road. Calling Hours will be held Friday, May 19, 2006 from 4:00-8:00 pm in the funeral home.
