Paul Francis Kingsbury, MD. 72 years, a retired surgeon in Taunton, died peacefully at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center, Hilton Head, SC on Monday, February 27, 2006.

Dr. Kingsbury graduated from Taunton High School, Tufts University and Tufts Medical School. He served in the U S Army Medical Corps from 1963 to 1966 as a Captain stationed in Berlin Germany. Following his discharge he returned to Taunton where he a held a surgical practice until he retired to Hilton Head Island in 1996. During his retirement he worked at the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic serving the island and surrounding communities. A longtime resident of the Taunton and Raynham area he practiced medicine in the Taunton community from 1966 to 1996 and held offices of Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at Morton Hospital. He was board certified in Surgery since 1964. He was member of the Massachusetts Medical Society, American College of Surgeons, Massachusetts Chapter of the American College of Surgeons where is served as counselor from 1974 to 1977. He published articles in he the New England Journal of Medicine and Surgery early in his career. He was a member of the Winthrop Street Baptist Church and served as a deacon and also attended the First Baptist Church in Hilton Head. He enjoyed golf, traveling and discussing current events. He was the son of the late Dr Curtis and Lolita (Regnier) Kingsbury and husband of the late Pauline “ Polly” (Ward) Kingsbury.

He is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Osborne and husband Scott of Sanford, NC; Karen Kingsbury of Boston and Patricia Moore and husband Andrew of Westwood,MA; four grandchildren and a brother Dr Richard Kingsbury of Sarasota,FL.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held in the Winthrop Street Baptist Church, 39 Winthrop Street, Taunton on Sunday, March 5, 2006 at 2PM with reception immediately following in the church vestry. Visiting hours on Saturday, March 4, 2006 in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave.,,(Route 138 South) Taunton from 4-7PM.
