View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FALL RIVER, MA – Irene T. (Barabe) Lamothe, 82, of Fall River, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at the Country Gardens Nursing Care Center in Swansea, MA. Born in New Bedford, MA, the daughter of the late Oliva and Lumina (Belanger) Barabe, she was the wife of the late Normand Lamothe.
A graduate of the former Jesus Marie Academy and Thibodeau Business School in Fall River, Irene began working as a bookkeeper for the Brown and Sharpe Company in Providence, a job she had for several years. She then worked as a nurse’s aide at the Taunton State Hospital for twenty years, retiring many years ago. Mrs. Lamothe enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, as well cooking, traveling, and reading.
Mrs. Lamothe leaves a brother, Roland Barabe of San Antonio, TX; a brother and sister-in-law, Rita and John Smith of Rochester, NY; two nieces and caregivers, Anne Marie Bouchard and her husband Gilbert of Somerset, MA; Denise Deston and her husband Alan of Fall River, MA; a good friend, Tina Therrien of Somerset, MA; and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at 9:00AM from the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Saint Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River. Calling Hours will be held prior to the funeral on Saturday from 8:00-9:00AM in the funeral home.
