View Tribute and Sign Guestbook BERKLEY, MA – Josephine E. (Sanocki) Rego died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, surrounded by her children, after a long illness. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Laba) Sanocki, she was the wife of the late John Rego.
Mrs. Rego attended the Fall River Public Schools while caring for four younger siblings. She was a devoted and loving mother. There was always dinner for seven made from scratch, freshly made pies, and delicious raisin and pineapple squares. In addition to cooking and maintaining her home and gardens, she worked at the former Fall River Quilting Company and the former Standard Linen Company as a mender for several years.
Her love and talent for sewing produced quilts, dresses, wedding and christening gowns, as well as window treatments for the entire family, which she crafted with love as well as the skill and precision of the most experienced seamstress. Her fondest memories are of Sunday afternoon outings to Newport for family picnics and swimming. Her fondest memories in later years were getting together annually for cookouts and celebrations at the family summer cottage at Myles Standish Park in Carver.
Mrs. Rego leaves three daughters, Carolyn Gagne and her husband Conrad of Fall River, Patricia Gazzola and her husband Louis of North Attleboro, and Jane Rego-Kalif and her husband Michael of Berkley; and a son, John Rego and his wife Darlene of Assonet, MA. Mrs. Rego is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joan B. Harper-McIntyre, and the sister of the late Frank and John Sanocki, Wanda Laviolette and Jennie Tobol.
