SWANSEA – John R. “Ray” Zacamy, 92, of Somerset, died Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the son of the late John and Esther (Sharp) Zacamy, he was the husband of the late Dorothy H. (Loiselle) Zacamy. Mr. Zacamy served his country during WWII with the United States Army Air Corp. He graduated from U. S. Army Command and General Staff College, earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Zacamy worked for the U. S. Department of Defense, Raytheon in Dighton, and finally for Lightolier in Fall River before retiring in 1980. He was a life member of the Congregational Christian Church in Somerset, a member of Reserve Officers Association, the 401st Bomb Group Association of the 8th Airforce. Mr. Zacamy is survived by a daughter, Susan Goodwin and her husband James of Waynesville, NC; a son, John R. Zacamy, Jr. and his wife Christina of New York City; a sister, Ruth Bshara of Chicopee, MA; five grandchildren, Kerri, Charles, Jill, Jaclyn, and Jenna; three great-grandchildren Shealyn, Devon, and Jack. He was the brother of the late Joseph Zacamy. Funeral InformationHis funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at 7:00PM in the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, with calling hours prior to the start of the funeral, from 4:00-7:00PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial with full military honours will be held Friday, August 7, 2009, at 9:00AM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
